Halcion Side Effects

The documented risks of these drugs are provided so the public can make informed, educated decisions. Halcion is a benzodiazepine antianxety drug. The U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration warns that benzodiazepines can bring about hostility, as well as physical dependence. Halcion is also known as Triazolam.

1 warning on Halcion causing sleep problems
1 warning on Halcion causing sleepwalking

1 warning on Halcion causing depression
1 warning on Halcion causing swelling

Halcion Drug Studies:

There have been four studies done in four countries (Canada, France, United Kingdom and United States) on Halcion (or triazolam). These include the following (note that some studies cite more than one side effect, so the list below may not be equal to the total number of studies):

1 study on Halcion causing death or increased risk of death
1 study on Halcion causing violence
1 study on Halcion causing homicidal ideation

Adverse Reaction Reports Filed with the US FDA: There have been 548 adverse reactions reported to the US FDA in connection with Halcion.

The FDA estimates that less than 1% of all serious events are ever reported to it, so the actual number of side effects occurring are most certainly higher.

  • 57 cases of overdose
  • 52 cases of drug being ineffective
  • 46 cases of intentional overdose
  • 43 cases of somnolence
  • 36 cases of coma
  • 31 cases of having a depressed level of consciousness
  • 27 cases of insomnia
  • 25 cases of loss of consciousness
  • 20 cases of multiple drug overdose
